The District is conducting a 40-acre prescribed burn today at Black Creek Ravines Conversation Area in Clay County, situated within the Lower St. Johns River Basin. The burn will be in the northwest portion of the property. The burn’s purpose is to reduce hazardous fuel loads and maintain fire-dependent natural communities.
The District is conducting a 175-acre prescribed burn today at Lochloosa Wildlife Conservation Area in Alachua County, situated in the Lower St. Johns River Basin. The burn’s purpose is to reduce hazardous fuel loads and maintain fire-dependent natural communities.
Rainfall in June was below average for the fifth consecutive month across the St. Johns River Water Management District’s 18-county region. Invest 90L brought much-needed rainfall mid-month, followed by increased thunderstorm precipitation during the last week of June, especially benefiting the southern region of the District.
The District has approved the 2024–2034 Land Management Plan for the Gourd Island Conservation Area, highlighting its commitment to protecting water resources and ecological diversity in St. Johns County.
The District has unveiled an update to the 2017 Indian River Lagoon (IRL) Feasibility Study.
The District’s Governing Board recognized July 2024 as Lakes Appreciation Month, aligning with the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) and organizations nationwide to spotlight the significance of lakes and their benefits.
