A wildfire has been reported at River Lakes 8, a St. Johns River Water Management District property south of State Road 520 and west of Interstate 95. The blaze was started by a lightning strike.

A wildfire is burning on a district property west of Interstate 95 and south of State Road 520 in Brevard County. Approximately 800 acres burned Monday evening. District staff plan to burn out the entire 5,000-acre property on Tuesday morning.

A recently completed project at a central Florida RV park and campground will help achieve water quality improvements for Lake Apopka and springs of the Wekiva system. The St. Johns River Water Management District contributed $34,425 to the project at Orange Blossom KOA in Orange County, which dismantled an old wastewater treatment plant and connected the campground to a central sewer system.
