District seeks public input on recreation on south Florida conservation lands

The District is hosting its Southern Recreational Public Meeting Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, from 6–8 p.m. at the District’s Palm Bay Service Center located at 525 Community College Parkway SE, Palm Bay, Fla. 32909.

The meeting is an opportunity for public stakeholders to provide input on the recreational use of District conservation lands within the Upper St. Johns River Basin, which encompasses eight properties located across portions of Okeechobee, Indian River, Brevard, Osceola and Orange counties. All members of the public are encouraged to participate and share their feedback on how these lands are managed and used for recreational purposes.

The meeting will cover:

  • Overview of recreation on District land in the southern region
  • Updates on southern region land management and operations
  • Fellsmere/Headwaters fisheries update presented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
  • Public comment session
