District offices and land closures in effect as Hurricane Helene intensifies
Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the St. Johns River Water Management District’s 18-county region remains under a Tropical Storm Watch through late Thursday evening.
District offices will remain closed through Friday, Sept. 27 except for the Palm Bay location.
Operational updates:
- Lock closures: Navigation through the Burrell Lock, Moss Bluff Lock, and the Apopka Lock and Dam is suspended until further notice pending safety assessments.
- Land closures: All District-managed lands, including the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, remain closed.

- Camping cancellations: All camping reservations are canceled through Monday, Sept. 30. Further cancellations may be necessary depending on the impacts from the storm.
Additionally, District’s pump strike teams are on standby to assist communities impacted by flooding.
