Governor appoints John Browning to St. Johns River Board
PALATKA, Fla., March 15, 2016 — Monday, Governor Rick Scott appointed John Browning to the St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board. Browning takes the place of George Robbins whose term ended in March 2016. The appointment takes effect immediately and runs through March 1, 2020.
“The leadership experience and knowledge Mr. Browning brings to the board will serve to keep our momentum going to conserve and improve our water,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Dr. Ann Shortelle. “Mr.Browning is a solid addition to an already stellar board that continues to make putting projects in the ground a priority and works to ensure we have the water resources we need for years to come.”
Browning, of East Palatka, is president of Browning Packing and Browning Consulting. He also serves on the Florida Transportation Commission, Floridians for Better Transportation and the Florida Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Browning received his associate’s degree from St. Johns River State College and his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. This appointment makes Browning the first board member from Putnam County in 26 years and the fifth board member from Putnam County overall.

The nine-member governing board sets policies and procedures for operation of the district. The board holds monthly public meetings and members serve without compensation.
Browning’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
