District postpones Governing Board meeting and tentative millage and budget hearing to Sept. 19
PALATKA, Fla., Sept. 7, 2017 — The St. Johns River Water Management District will postpone its monthly Governing Board meeting and tentative Fiscal Year 2017-2018 millage and budget hearing due to Hurricane Irma and the storm’s potential for impacts in the district’s 18-county area. Several other public meetings also are being postponed.
The September Governing Board will be held Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m., and the tentative millage and budget hearing has been rescheduled to Sept. 19 at 5:05 p.m. The district’s website, www.sjrwmd.com, will reflect any changes to the meeting location following the storm and evaluation of its impacts to district facilities.
Other meetings that will be postponed due to the storm include:
- The springs science investigation, or Collaborative Research Initiative on Sustainability and Protection of Springs (CRISPS), final meeting scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8, at the University of Florida Austin Cary Forest Learning Center has been postponed. A new meeting date has not yet been set.
- The district has canceled the Sept. 7 peer review meeting in Palm Bay to receive comments from consultants and the public on the district’s permitting process.
- Meetings to discuss ag cost-share rankings scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday have been rescheduled for Sept. 20 and 21 from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at the Maitland Service Center, 601 South Lake Destiny Drive, Suite. 200, Maitland, FL 32751.
- Public workshops on the draft 2017 minimum flows and levels priority list and schedule have been rescheduled to Sept. 27, from 1–3 p.m., at district headquarters, and Oct. 2, from 5–6 p.m., at the Maitland Service Center.
