Palm Bluff Conservation Area temporarily closed for routine maintenance
PALATKA, Fla., Sept. 6, 2024 — The St. Johns River Water Management District announces the temporary closure of the Palm Bluff Conservation Area beginning Sept. 9–16 for routine maintenance on the entrance road, which serves as the only access point to the property. All recreational activities, including primitive camping, are suspended until the work is complete.
The Palm Bluff Conservation Area protects over two miles of Deep Creek, a key tributary of the St. Johns River, just downstream of Lake Harney. This expansive area connects large conservation easements to the north, forming a critical link between protected lands in the Middle St. Johns River Basin and the Volusia Conservation Corridor. The property features diverse ecosystems and offers a variety of recreational activities for nature enthusiasts, including hiking, horseback riding, bicycling and primitive tent camping.
The District appreciates your understanding and looks forward to welcoming visitors back to the Palm Bluff Conservation Area for a safe and enjoyable experience.
