Board approves ranking of REDI community projects to share $2.83 million
PALATKA, Fla., Dec. 11, 2018 — The St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board on Tuesday approved the ranking of projects to share in up to $2.83 million in cost-share funds to benefit water resources in Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) communities and for projects that use innovative technology to provide data supporting future permitting and full-scale implementation of alternative water supplies.
“By providing financial assistance to REDI communities, the district enables communities to pursue projects they may have otherwise been unable to do,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Dr. Ann Shortelle. “I’m looking forward to moving ahead on eight great projects that will help improve and protect water resources in our partner communities.”
The district received 14 project applications. One project was withdrawn, and the remaining were scored. Five REDI projects and three innovative projects will receive funding. Projects benefit one or more of the district’s core missions of water supply, water quality, natural systems restoration or flood protection.
