Media Advisory – Public workshop Nov. 9 on DeLeon Springs and Lake Cowpen MFLs

PALATKA, Fla., Nov. 7, 2016 — The St. Johns River Water Management District is holding a rule development workshop to provide information and receive public comments on proposed rule amendments to adopt minimum flows for DeLeon Springs in Volusia County and amend minimum water levels for Lake Cowpen in Putnam County.

The preliminary text of the proposed MFLs for DeLeon Springs and Lake Cowpen will be available for review at https://clone.sjrwmd.com/ruledevelopment/ under the Notice of Rule Development heading.

Establishing MFLs is an important goal in the district’s work of planning for adequate water supplies for today and for future generations while also protecting the district’s water resources. The district is setting MFLs for lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, springs and aquifers.
