Fifty-nine projects in 15 counties to benefit from district cost-share dollars

“Through partnerships, we can help local governments and water suppliers stretch their dollars for great projects they otherwise may not be able to achieve,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Dr. Ann Shortelle. “These district cost-share funds will help our partners conserve approximately 2 million gallons of water per day (mgd), develop 8 mgd of alternative water supplies, provide an estimated nutrient load reduction of 151,200 pounds of total nitrogen and 22,400 pounds of total phosphorus per year, and protect approximately 800 acres from flooding. Projects include alternative water supply projects, stormwater or surface water treatment and enhancement projects, flood protection projects, wastewater treatment plant upgrades, septic tank removal, and water conservation enhancements. Click here for the project list and rank.

Projects are located in Alachua, Baker, Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Marion, Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns and Volusia counties.

Seventy-eight applications, totaling nearly $40 million in requested district funding, were ranked based on core mission benefits, cost effectiveness, likelihood of successful and timely completion, and application quality and completeness. Projects may span a maximum of two years and must start by June 30, 2017.
