Learn to be a Florida Water Star Accredited Professional
PALATKA, Fla., May 13, 2016 — The St. Johns River Water Management District, Alachua County and the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) are holding a training on May 18 for landscapers seeking to be Florida Water StarSM Accredited Professionals (AP).
The training also allows participants to prepare to design landscapes that meet the new Alachua County irrigation code, which closely resembles Florida Water StarSM criteria. Landscape professionals who pass the landscape and irrigation AP exams will be able to self-inspect landscapes to ensure they meet county code.
The training will take place on May 18 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Alachua County Health Department, 224 S.E. 24th St., Gainesville, FL 32641. Exams will be held on May 19 and 25 from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
The training is free, and pre-registration is required. Exams are $25 each. To take both exams to comply with Alachua County Code is $50 total. Fee is payable in advance to FNGLA. To register and pay for the exam and training contact Merry Mott at mmott@fngla.org or 800-375-3642.
This training marks the fourth such training in Alachua County. Since its inception, more than 400 landscape professionals have attended the AP training.
